Short Term Nightly Rentals

September 12, 2011 By NBraithwaite

Updated: May 2, 2012

The Letter’s Patent incorporating Sun Peaks Mountain Resort Municipality require that an Official Community Plan (OCP) be adopted by June 28, 2012. In preparation for that process, The Whistler Centre for Sustainability has been hired to perform a public consultation process to seek the input of the community and make recommendations to the Municipal Council regarding Short Term Nightly Rentals.   This information will eventually be fed into the OCP process and once the OCP is approved by the Province, changes will be made to our Zoning bylaw to accommodate the decisions on short-term rentals in residentially zoned neighbourhoods. Please see the Community Conversations: Short Term Vacation Rentals Briefing Report prepared by the Whistler Centre . As part of that process residents and property owners are encouraged to take part in a brief survey (please see the link below) and attend the public meeting on September 24, 2011.

Please feel free to contact the Municipal Office with any questions or comments regarding this process.

Please click here for the survey results.
