Dear Recreational Homeowner/ Rental Property Management
As residents in Sun Peaks work collectively at social distancing and doing our part in self isolating because of the Provincial Emergency Declaration, it has come to our attention that a few owners and travellers are still coming to Sun Peaks to recreate or enjoy their recreation property. Some of you may believe that COVID 19 has not hit Sun Peaks. We know that there were positive tests from Sun Peaks and our medical staff have identified some 20+ presumptive cases, all healthy individuals who are now recovering in isolation.
The Chief Provincial Medical Officer, Dr. Bonnie Henry has directed people to stay home and eliminate any nonessential travel, particularly to the many small towns that are destinations throughout BC. Our First Responders and Fire & Rescue resources and especially medical facilities are very limited during this pandemic. Please help us keep Sun Peaks safe and in line with the provincial regulations. There is no question that travel has been a major contributor to the spread of the Coronavirus so please be part of the solution and not part of the threat.
We implore you that unless your primary residence is Sun Peaks, please do not come here at this time. The only way we can stop the virus spread is to do our part. We believe strongly that if we all do as directed, 100% of the time, with 100% commitment, we will beat this pandemic much quicker and we can then welcome you all back to Sun Peaks with open arms.
We really appreciate your adherence to this provincial directive and help keep us all safe.
