We have received a remediation plan from our engineers which involves construction of a lock block wall (3 blocks high) to hold back the slop to prevent further landslides. We expect to begin clean-up and construction in the coming days. At this time we are hopeful that we can have the site in a condition safe to reopen by next weekend.
Sun Peaks Area residents should continue to use the Heffley Creek eco-depot as their alternate disposal site until we can reopen. Sun Peaks residents are not being charged disposal fees for household garbage at the Heffley Creek site, there is a separate tipping area set-up so we can track the waste separately (fees billed to Sun Peaks municipality).
We will be sending out another update through social media shortly. Please help us communicate by sharing the post.
Thanks for your patience. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
