Winter Parking and Snow Clearing Regulations – Effective November 1st
As we prepare for the upcoming winter season, the Sun Peaks Mountain Resort Municipality would like to remind all residents and property owners of the winter parking regulations that come into effect as of November 1st.
To ensure safe and effective snow removal operations throughout the municipality, the following regulations will be strictly enforced:
Effective November 1st
No Street Parking
- Street parking is not permitted at any time from November 1st – April 30, regardless of snowfall.
- Vehicles left on the road may obstruct snow clearing operations and will be subject to ticketing and towing at the owner's expense.
Clear the Roadside in front of your property
- The areas beside the roadway (commonly referred to as verges, shoulders, easements, frontage, ditches, boulevards) must be kept completely clear of vehicles, trailers, RVs, construction materials, and other personal items.
- These roadside areas are essential for snow plowing and snow storage. Even when there is no snow on the ground, they must remain clear in anticipation of snowfall.
- Any items left in these areas may block snow removal efforts and pose a safety hazard. Vehicles or materials found in these zones will be subject to enforcement, including fines or removal.
No Dumping Snow on Municipal Roads
- Please do not shovel or blow snow from a driveway onto the municipal roads. This will cause extra snow to be pushed from the road onto yours or your neighbour’s property, causing larger snow piles.
- Ask the neighbouring property owners permission before dumping snow
Inform Your Guests and Visitors
- We ask all property owners to inform their guests, renters, and contractors about these regulations. Vehicles parked illegally, whether by owners or visitors, will be treated the same and may be fined or towed.
Thank you for your attention and cooperation in helping us maintain safe and accessible roads throughout the winter season.
