CAO Shane Bourke Submits Resignation to Council

Shane Bourke

After nearly two years of service in Sun Peaks, current CAO Bourke has announced that he will leave his post this summer.  Bourke told Council earlier today that his family are very happy in Sun Peaks and was not looking for new employment but has received an attractive offer from a larger city to become their CAO.

Final departure date from Sun Peaks will be established over the coming weeks.  He hopes to assume his new role in early September.

Mayor Al Raine indicated that he and council members are very sorry to see Shane leave Sun Peaks, but we understand that when a new and exciting opportunity presents itself, strong leaders rise to the challenge.  ‘We are very pleased with Shane’s performance and the amazing accomplishments of the past two years’ said Raine.   ‘We recognize the excellent work that Shane and his team have carried out’, said Raine.

Shane Bourke, Chief Administrative Officer:

‘Sun Peaks has become an important part of my family’s life and I know we will have an ongoing connection to the community. There are many exciting things happening in Sun Peaks that I have been looking forward to being a part of, but you don’t always get to pick the timing of opportunities and have made the decision to leave following a transition period.’

Raine indicated that a recruitment committee has been established and the CAO search will start immediately.
