FIRE HYDRANT CLEARING IN SUN PEAKS
Sun Peaks Fire Rescue appreciates the efforts of residents helping to clear the snow from fire hydrants throughout Sun Peaks during the winter months. Thank you!
We ask community members to keep a one metre (3ft) zone clear around hydrants and a clear path to the roadway while clearing snow. We cannot stress enough the importance of having clear hydrants in your neighbourhood.
Fire hydrants buried under snow can significantly slow down our response time. Your help in keeping hydrants clear is appreciated and will allow our team to focus on fighting the fire and not shovelling the snow.
Please know that our Utility and Fire crews are also working to dig out fire hydrants; however, with over 100+ hydrants in the Municipality, it is impossible to reach them all after every snowfall.
Again, thank you to those who have cleared out the snow around their local fire hydrant – you are helping to make our community safer.
