At the December 5, 2023 regular council meeting, Council reconsidered the recent changes to business license fees for STNR license holders and will be revisiting these fees at the December 19th Council meeting. Please note: You can still expect an increase to your annual business license fee, but Council has directed that a more equitable increase among the various types of accommodations (studio-1 bedroom, 2 bedroom, 3 bedroom, 3 bedroom +) be presented to them for consideration.
We recognize that we should have communicated these cost increases in advance and with an explanation of Council’s direction and decision. Please see the December 5th agenda for further information including a report that was presented at the council meeting that provides background information, rationale and addresses some of the concerns we have been receiving.
We understand that the invoicing for the 2024 Business Licence has already been issued, but the due date is not until January 31, 2024. Please delay payment until a final decision by Mayor and Council has been made. Final changes to the STNR fee schedule will be communicated to you and an invoice reissued followed in the December 19, 2023 regular council meeting.
The license fees are based on the information received during the initial application. Please fill out and return a new license application to ensure that the fees are based on accurate information.
