Sun Peaks Mountain Resort Municipality is seeking qualified service providers to deliver monthly utility meter reading services. This includes both water and propane meters, with data reported directly to the Sun Peaks Finance Department for billing purposes.
Scope of Work
- Conduct monthly readings on the last 3–4 business days of each month.
- Read water meters (some transitioning to digital) and propane meters (manual).
- Record and report accurate read data using handheld equipment.
- Navigate 10–20 km daily on uneven terrain in varied weather conditions.
- Carry handheld reading devices weighing 5–10 lbs.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Valid BC Class 5 Driver’s License.
- Basic computer literacy.
- Strong conflict resolution and customer service skills.
- Demonstrated responsibility and accountability.
Additional Notes
Sun Peaks is in the early stages of implementing a digital water meter reading system, but propane readings remain manual. The selected provider must be adaptable and comfortable with evolving technologies.
Contractor Requirements
- This is a contractor position, not employment
- Contractor is responsible for insurance coverage and legislated deductions (e.g., income tax)
- Must comply with all applicable WorkSafeBC and provincial regulations
- Must provide all PPE
- Must provide own vehicle
