SUN PEAKS — The Sun Peaks Housing Authority (SPHA) is pleased to share a community update on the progress of our first housing project currently under construction in Sun Peaks.
The approximately $54 million project, being developed through the Province’s BC Builds program, remains on time and on budget. SPHA is pleased to share that site servicing, excavation, and foundation work has now been completed successfully, on schedule and within budget. The project has since progressed into the framing stage, with crews currently working on the third floor and construction continuing to advance steadily. We anticipate final framing and completion of the roof structure by the end of this year.
Once complete, the building will provide 110 purpose-built rental homes for people who live and work in the Sun Peaks community. Full occupancy is currently anticipated by Fall 2027.
“This project marks a significant step forward in meeting our community’s housing needs” said Board Chair Len Hrycan; “much thanks to the SPHA Board for their ongoing commitment to our community”.
As construction continues, SPHA is also working toward future operational planning and tenant policies. We hope to have more information to share regarding tenant eligibility criteria by Fall of this year.
Community engagement will continue to be an important part of this project. In the coming months, SPHA looks forward to connecting more with residents, businesses, and community partners, and creating additional opportunities for the public to engage with the project as it progresses.
