Update on the Sun Peaks Community Health Centre:
Sun Peaks Mountain Resort Municipality remains deeply committed to restoring accessible, reliable health services for our community.
In August 2025, we issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) to secure a qualified family physician to lease and independently operate the community-owned Sun Peaks Health Centre. In November, we announced that we were moving forward into negotiations with Dr. Catherine Nowierski.
Since then, both parties have worked diligently to reach a final agreement that would allow the Health Centre to reopen as quickly as possible. Despite these efforts, we were unable to reach mutually acceptable terms, and Dr. Nowierski has chosen to withdraw from negotiations. We respect this decision and appreciate the work invested by all involved.
We recognize this update may be disappointing and that many residents are feeling the impact of the Health Centre’s continued closure. Please know that Mayor and Council remain fully dedicated to finding a sustainable solution that serves and protects the community’s interests. We are actively exploring all options and will continue moving forward with urgency.
Providing our community with dependable local medical care remains one of our top priorities. We are moving ahead with the next phase of planning and will share updates as we work toward a positive and lasting resolution for the community.
