October 21, 2026 TNRD update on commercial changes at Sun Peaks Transfer Station. In response to concerns raised by the Sun Peaks community, the TNRD has approved an extension of the implementation date from December 1, 2026 to June 1, 2027. This six-month extension is intended to:
• Provide additional time for businesses, strata corporations, property managers, and accommodation providers to assess their waste management needs and establish commercial waste collection services if required.
• Allow private waste collection companies additional time to establish and expand service offerings within Sun Peaks.
• Support further engagement and education with affected stakeholders.
• Avoid implementation during the peak winter tourism season, when operational impacts on businesses and accommodations are expected to be greatest.

Sun Peaks Transfer Station Hours
- Winter (December 1 - March 31): 9:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. daily
- Summer (April 1 - November 30): 9:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m., closed Tuesdays and Fridays
The Transfer Station is a TNRD-operated facility. It is located at 1320 Industrial Way which is off of Sun Peaks Road near the Burfield Chair lift.
If you would like to donate your empty bottles and cans, all proceeds are split between the Sun Peaks Education Society and Adaptive Sports at Sun Peaks.
