Sun Peaks Mountain Resort Municipality to host Council Candidate Information Session
Thinking of running for office in this year’s election? Sun Peaks Mountain Resort Municipality (SPMRM) is inviting potential candidates to attend an upcoming information session.
The information session will take place on Tuesday July 14, 2026, from 6:30pm to 8:00pm in the Board Room of the Sun Peaks Centre 3200 Village Way. Participants can take part in-person or virtually via Zoom, and the link to attend the meeting virtually can be found here: https://us02web.zoom.us/s/88968037816
During the information session, SPMRM staff will provide general information about:
- What to expect before, during and after the election;
- Key election legislation and regulations;
- Important dates;
- Candidate nomination process and requirements;
- Voting and taking office;
- What local governments do;
- Responsibilities of elected officials; and
- Expected time commitment and compensation.
The General Local Elections take place on Saturday October 17, 2026. Visit the municipal website www.sunpeaksmunicipality.ca to find information for candidates and voters, polling station and mail ballot voting details (once available).
